Chines - do they protrude below bottom?

Post by johnrdm » Tue Jul 11, 2023 3:34 pm

Hi, I’m at the faring stage of the 5200 bottom on my 1947 17’ deluxe runabout. I notice the chines stick out past the bottom from around 4’ back from the bow, all the way back for the stern. Around 3/8” max.
I seem to remember the original bottom also had this?
Is this correct? If not, should the chines stick out at all or should they be fared flush with the bottom?
Please advise.

Pretty sure it should be flush. Is the new bottom thinner than the original?
