I have a bad cylinder head on my 1966 Cavalier 283. I'm having a bear of a time trying to find something to replace it. What are my options? Finding cylinder heads with my casting number, 3774684, even new ones, has been impossible. There's one on eBay, but it's the wrong side. Help!

Call Dave VanNess at VanNess Engeneering, he has tons of parts and knows the details. I just got a new pre war K head from him. Rare!

I think (not something I am good at these days, so VERIFY) the 283 heads were 64 cc chambers. You should be able to find all sorts of new SBC heads on Summit Racing, Jeggs and other auto sites. Plus a million used and rebuilt heads. Try searching for “small block chevey heads” and the search for ones with the correct combustion chamber volume for the compression ratio you want to run. You don’t need the exact same casting number assuming this is not a show boat.
